Moreover, they add vector quantization to PassGPT to enhance it. PassVQT, the resultant architecture, could make generated passwords more complex. PassGPT progressively samples each character, which introduces the various problem of guided password creation, in contrast to prior deep generative models that create passwords as a complete. The generated passwords are sampled using arbitrary restrictions in this method, ensuring a more detailed (character-level) guided exploration of the search space. Finally, PassGPT explicitly represents the probability distribution across passwords, in contrast to GANs. 

They display agreement between password probability and modern password strength estimators: Stronger passwords are given lower odds by PassGPT. Additionally they seek for passwords that, although being deemed “strong” by strength estimators, are easy to guess via generative techniques. They display how PassGPT’s password probabilities could also be used to enhance the accuracy of current strength estimators.
