Meta is, for instance, open-sourcing its first model consistent with LeCun’s vision of easy methods to construct AI systems with human-level intelligence. 

Open-sourcing technology sets a high bar, because it lets outsiders find faults and hold firms accountable, Pineau says. Nevertheless it also helps Meta’s technologies turn into a more integral a part of the infrastructure of the web.
